7/24 The Best Day Birthday

I think I’m officially elderly. Anyway since I’m old now I ate some strawberries with my toast. The Old Course Hotel was able to do one thing right – they had ice for iced tea. Morning sunshine Grace had a birthday greeting all set up (she’s kind and cute). I decorated the balloons as I waited for my sisters. I got a birthday button AND I got to play music from my phone in the van. Dreams do come true

We arrived at Kellie Castle down a tree lined drive. It was otherwise in a field and not particularly impressive as castles go BUT I L. O. V. E. D. it. First of all it had the initials MH as on the outside and I love some MHs. Then a young man (was he nebbish? Maybe but cute) gave us a tour. The history of the erection of the towers was interesting in that well-I’m-here-so-I-might-as-well-learn-something way. But inside was the surprise. Magnificent paintings, plaster work, furniture, and needlepoint. The family that bought the castle and tried to restore it was uber talented. Rooms of glorious ceilings, hand built furniture, and breathtaking art. Just hanging around. Afterwards we strolled the gardens and perused the gift shop.

We hiked to and after lunch.

My sisters and mom gave me thoughtful fabulous gifts and we drank a toast on Loch Lomond. I am not worthy but I do like presents. I’ll have photos tomorrow. I might be one of those sappy happy grateful blessed people today.

Goal for tomorrow : don’t raise eyebrows when getting a picture taken.

7/21 Let the Hiking Begin

This is the whole tour! Two sisters originally from Michigan. Our quintessential California girl guide. And me! We know everything about each other already. I haven’t gotten them to start a detective agency but we do all now have Scottish aliases.
This is a Housie. The inside is a mosaic of shells. Some rich lady had it made for her kids. We saw it on our way through the Haunt of Doomster.
Entering our first village Stonehaven.

Off to Dunnottar Castle.

My home for 2 nights.
DOOTD
This amused me.

7/20. Looking in the Windaes

Went to the Stockbridge Market with the idea to get a sausage roll for brekkie. Wasn’t really hungry so just enjoyed watching the crowds and checking out the booths. Walked to a famous bridge.

Outfit of the Day. No rain predicted till dinner time.
Guys in kilts outside Physicians Society.

gotta squeeze everything back in my suitcase to meet with tour tomorrow.
